Woods' Comeback Halted by Injury

Tiger Woods, the 15-time major winner, underwent surgery on Tuesday to repair a torn left Achilles tendon, and Rory McIlroy doesn't think golf fans will get to see him play on the PGA Tour this season.
However, McIlroy stated that he wouldn't be shocked if the 49-year-old Woods made another try to overcome his most recent defeat.
On Wednesday, McIlroy said it was regrettable and mentioned the person's bad luck with injuries and his physical state. He said the individual was trying to be ready for Augusta but had to have surgery on his Achilles, which is not fun. McIlroy expressed optimism that the person was staying upbeat and getting well.
Woods claimed he suffered an injury while increasing his practice for the Masters, which will take place at Augusta National Golf Club from April 10–13, in a message shared on social media on Tuesday.
Woods claimed he was recuperating at his South Florida home after undergoing a "minimally invasive" Achilles tendon replacement by Dr. Charlton Stucken of the Hospital for Special Surgery in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Woods was already attempting to recover from lumbar spine microdecompression surgery for lower back nerve impingement. It was thought to be his sixth lower back operation in the previous ten years.
After sustaining severe injuries to his right leg, foot, and ankle in a vehicle accident in February 2021, some 30 miles south of downtown Los Angeles, he also had to endure a protracted recuperation period. Woods informed reporters that he had many surgeries to fix his right leg after the injuries were so serious that physicians almost had to amputate it.
Since failing to make the cut at The Open in Scotland in July, Woods had not participated in any PGA Tour events. After his mother, Kultida, passed away on February 4, he canceled his participation in the Genesis Invitational, which he had been planning to participate in in February.
Earlier this month, Woods participated in the Seminole Pro-Member at the Seminole Golf Club in South Florida alongside former PGA of America CEO Seth Waugh. He also participated in four TGL matches.
The man had only swung a club a few times, according to McIlroy, who implied that he wouldn't have been in the running for the Masters. Nonetheless, McIlroy pointed out that the individual was making a concerted effort to raise his level of performance through more training, practice, and other methods. McIlroy said the person appeared to be trying to make up for lost time.
When Woods reaches 50 on December 30, he will be able to compete in the PGA Tour Champions. In the past, he has made jokes about playing on the golf circuit for players aged 50 and more.
At the 2023 Masters, Woods stated that he will have three more years to accompany Fred Couples on the course and ride the golf cart.
